Background

The SARS Expert Committee released its report on 2 October 2003, which contains a comprehensive set of improvement measures aimed to better prepare the healthcare system in Hong Kong for any future outbreak of communicable diseases. The HKSARG attaches much importance to full and timely implementation of these recommendations. The Chief Executive appointed a Monitoring Committee to oversee the implementation of recommendations in the Report in November 2003.

Two overseas and three local professionals and experts have been appointed as members of the Monitoring Committee. They will make periodic reports to the Chief Executive on progress of the implementation.
